A manufacturer of components and devices for military use is looking to hire a Production Planner. The Production Planner is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and execution of production activities in alignment with operational objectives and ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. This role ensures that products are manufactured and delivered on time, while optimizing resources, minimizing cost, and maintaining production flow. The position is critical in driving schedule adherence, material readiness, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. Hours are Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm, with flex. Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage production workflows across one or more product lines to meet customer demand.
Develop, maintain, and execute daily and weekly production schedules based on capacity, priorities, and material availability.
Prepare, release, and track Job Orders (JOs), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
Ensure all job packages include required documentation, including travelers.
Plan and prioritize operations to maximize efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize disruptions.
Ensure material availability and staging in coordination with Purchasing and Stockroom.
Analyze and validate manpower, equipment, and machine capacity to support production demand.
Partner with operations leadership on staffing plans, shift schedules, and overtime requirements.
Monitor production progress and communicate status updates to management and cross-functional teams.
Identify, escalate, and resolve production constraints or delays.
Assist in prioritization and sequencing of jobs.
Coordinate with Quality for inspection and release of completed jobs.
Track and analyze production performance including yield, efficiency, backlog, and throughput.
Lead weekly order status meetings providing visibility to risks and recovery plans.
Maintain accurate ERP/MRP records.
Support inventory accuracy through job closures and material reporting.
Review purchase orders and communicate delivery commitments.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory procedures.
Support ISO 9001 audit compliance.
