Well-established and growing family-owned accessibility industry leader and innovator in the design and manufacturing of quality ramps serving the manufacturing and healthcare sectors by providing newfound freedom to the elderly and handicapped community with the most diverse range of accessibility products in the industry is seeking a qualified Senior Design Engineer who will help ensure a productive workflow to maximize internal performance and future growth. This role will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing and developing groundbreaking designs for the accessibility industry. The ideal candidate should possess a proven track record of thinking outside the box, turning innovative ideas into tangible designs, and pushing the boundaries of traditional engineering, while understanding the intricacies of design for manufacturing, ensuring seamless transitions from concept to production. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Position is on site, with occasional remote flexibility and travel. Salary depends on experience. Responsibilities:
-Bring a radical-thinking approach to design challenges and propose unconventional solutions
-Create and develop detailed designs of accessibility solutions using industry-standard design tools and software
-Ensure designs meet technical specifications, performance criteria, and regulatory requirements
-Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, supply chain, QA, marketing, and manufacturing to integrate design concepts into a comprehensive product development plan
-Participate in design reviews to gather feedback and iterate on designs as necessary
-Develop prototypes for proof-of-concept and perform testing to validate design concepts
-Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve design performance
-Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including design specifications, reports, and drawings
-Prepare final cost estimates and detailed production specifications for the manufacturing teams
-Ensure documentation complies with internal quality standards and industry regulations
-Develop and execute detailed project plans to ensure timely completion of development projects from inception to commercialization
-Design and execute detailed work plans for each team member depending upon project requirement and member expertise
-Provide project updates to stakeholders as per demand and requirement
-Perform regular assessment of project execution to identify areas for improvement
-Track project performance periodically to ensure both short-term and long-term goals are met
-Manage interdepartmental coordination to ensure project delivery is on time, as per scope, and within the allocated budget
-Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices
-Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of design methodologies
